For the 7th consecutive time, Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal. This time Djokovic prevailed in a 5-set classic (5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 7-5) to capture the Australian Open earlier today in Melbourne. The match took five hours and 53 minutes and was the longest Grand Slam final since the Open Era started in 1968 and the longest Australian Open match in history.

We’re sorry to see the Australian Open coming to a close because there has been some excellent tennis played, but you can’t beat another final between these 2. They’re starting to get some real history with each other too, but Novak Djokovic had had the better hand lately.

Novak Djokovic captured the BNP Paribas Open championship today in Palm Springs, where he beat Raffy Nadal in 3 sets. Djokovic is the only player to beat Nadal and Roger Federer, who he dropped in the semis, in the same tournament. He’s done it twice.
He also hasn’t lost this year.

This outstanding performance kept me up past 4 a.m. I just couldn’t stop watching the dominance of Novak Djokovic.
For the 2nd time in a Major semifinal, Djokovic beat Roger Federer. He beat him up, too. Djokovic recorded a straight-sets victory over Federer earlier this morning at the Australian Open. He will play the Andy Murray-David Ferrer winner for the title Sunday.
