Though they aren’t as ruthless and heartless as some of their good friends in the Republican Party, Roger Goodell and the NFL owners are close. Even before the players got a chance to see the proposed collective bargaining agreement, the owners paraded in front of the cameras to pat themselves on the back. Many in the media bought their line of crap and pressured the players to approve the deal.

Shaq, girlfriend Nicole “Hoopz” Alexander, family and friends dined and partied at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Saturday night. After dinner at Nove Italiano, Shaq celebrated with a retirement party at Moon Nightclub at the resort.
Shaq held court at a VIP table and indulged in Dom Pérignon and Patron. He had DJ Exodus perform a tribute to Michael Jackson (Saturday was the 2nd anniversary of his death) and the packed house at Moon sang along.
Shaq and his fans also enjoyed a tribute reel of his career highlights that was played on screens throughout the club.
Caked Las Vegas provided the cake, with the Laker log finding a prominent place on it.
Mark Sanchez stopped by as did illusionist Criss Angel. Earlier, Sanchez had dinner with friends at N9NE steakhouse.

Mark Sanchez and a party of 35 soaked up the atmosphere from a VIP spot. We say get Janet in the house and it will be Sanchez and a party of 100.
Britney Spears gave 2 surprise performances Friday at Rain Nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The performances were filmed by MTV for an upcoming Spears’ special that will air next week in celebration of her CD release.
“We are extremely excited to have 1 of the most iconic artists of all time back at the Palms. Britney’s performances were unbelievable and her fans will never forget this night,” said owner George Maloof. “We have a great relationship with MTV and feel fortunate to be a part of her upcoming special.”
This is not Spears’ first time performing in Rain Nightclub, stunning fans with an unannounced performance in 2003.
“Femme Fatale,” Spears’ 7th studio album, will be released on March 29.

Palms Casino Resort Owner George Maloof and Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez visited youths at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas on Thursday. The visit coincided with National Boys & Girls Club week and gave the kids an opportunity to toss the football and interact with Sanchez and Maloof.

We have to plug the wonderful insight of our good friend and outstanding New York sportscaster Brian Custer. Asked earlier in the season what player on the Jets would deliver with the most impact, Custer didn’t hesitate by answering Santonio Holmes.
While everyone and their mammas has to endure the endless stories coming out of Cleveland today, New Yorkers are getting all hot and bothered by another showdown: Jets vs. Patriots. It is becoming one of the most hyped Monday Night Football meetings of the season and we all understand why. The 2 clubs are tied for the lead in the AFC East and 2 of the best in the NFL. Further, it pits Rex Ryan against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady against Mark Sanchez, among several other storylines.
But the 1 player who could determine the winner: Holmes.

Mark Sanchez took advantage of the bye week to hit the Palms Casino Resort in Vegas on Friday night with family and friends. The Jets quarterback and a party of 2 grabbed a bite at N9NE Steakhouse, where they indulged in a family-style feast that included the signature rock shrimp, organic truffle chicken, Alaskan king crab legs, Maine lobster, New York sirloin and a side of potato gnocchi.
After dinner, Sanchez and 10 friends held court at a VIP table at Moon Nightclub, where they enjoyed mixed drinks.
At Rain Nightclub, hip-hop artist T-Pain enjoyed the scene from a VIP table on stage with a group of 30. He performed for the crowd, which was met with a rousing response from the packed house.

The hit by Ray Lewis on Jets tight end Dustin Keller late in the game punctuated the Ravens’ victory in New York. Despite all their talk, the Jets offense doesn’t have much bite to it. As impressive as their defensive was, the offense was mediocre at best.
With the Ravens limiting Mark Sanchez to only 74 yards passing, they managed just enough themselves to earn a hard-fought 10-9 victory over the Jets in a game that was as good as advertised on Monday Night Football.

Mark Sanchez made the rounds all weekend in Vegas. Surely, he was getting that elbow in shape for the upcoming season.
On Friday, he spent most of the night partying with Jay Cutler, who was celebrating his 27th birthday, and Brandon Marshall at the Palms Resort Casino. On Saturday (5.1.10), the Jets’ quarterback attended the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley fight, then dined at N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms with Javon Walker, Gabrielle Union (what, no D-Wade?) and Palms’ owner George Maloof.
Also in at the restaurant: Brady Quinn and a party of 4; Joey Porter with a party of 10 (and we hear he and his crew behaved); Shaun Rogers and his wife; and Ricky Hatton, who probably enjoyed Mosley getting worked instead of him, with 2 friends.
At ghostbar, which is located upstairs in the resort, retired boxer Vinny Paz sucked down cocktails with 5 friends.
And at the popular Playboy Club, teammates Jay Ratliff and Keith Brooking of the Dallas Cowboys played blackjack and sipped on Ketel One mixed drinks.
