Our favorite Long Beach event kicks off Friday and runs through Sunday. Freaks are already here. We’ll see if we can produce some candid moments before the end of the weekend.

We’re well into the festivities (and the cups) for the annual Long Beach Grand Prix, with the main event running Sunday. But some of the preliminary events heading up to race day have included Friday’s Miss Tecate contest. Stephani Costanza, 24, beat out 17 other contestants for the top prize. Adriana Davalos and Kristina Morrison were first- and second-runner up, respectively.

Mike Conway is your 2011 winner of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. His victory capped another fat weekend in the LBC.
We hung out in front of the crib, which is just 3 blocks north of the building on the right. Again, the scenery was off the charts, especially Saturday, when it was 85 and sunny.

One of our favorite events in the LBC is the annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, which kicks off Friday through Sunday. Though the main event isn’t until Sunday, several entertaining choices highlight the 3-day affair, including Saturday’s celebrity race through the streets of Long Beach.
Or, if you’re like us, you enjoy soaking up the atmosphere on Pine Avenue and the nearby bars and restaurants. We always recommend that.

More than 170,000 race fans packed Shoreline Village and other hot spots in Long Beach to cap the 3-day Long Beach Grand Prix on Sunday. It was a well-behaved crowd too, according to the Long Beach PD. Only a few arrests and a few drunks receiving medical attention because of dehydration.
Ryan Hunter-Reay was your race winner.

Long Beach is jumping this weekend. And with 3 female drivers, including the lovely Venezuelan beauty Milka Duno, in the field of this weekend’s Long Beach Grand Prix, the race has some added flavor. Danica Patrick and Simona de Silvestro, who hails from Switzerland, are the other two competing. Patrick and Duno add some spice to the event since they have some major history between them and continue to have an extreme dislike for each other. During an Indy Race in Ohio two years ago, the two exchanged words and insults.
Patrick is the most popular of the female drivers, but Duno is an interesting study. Besides racing, Duno, who lives in Miami, also has a good head on her shoulders, earning 4 master’s degrees in organizational development, naval architecture, maritime business and marine biology.
The LBGP features a weekend of activities, including a street fest tonight (actually, the downtown streets, Pine Avenue in particular, will be packed all weekend), and a celebrity race Saturday. The main event is Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
If you’ve never been, we highly recommend it. The food, drink, eye candy and the rest of the scenery is something to behold.
