Living The Dream

    Fifty years ago, George Raveling worked security in D.C. where Martin Luther King delivered his historic “I Have A Dream” speech. Raveling, who stood nearby, asked King for a copy of the speech. He gave Raveling his copy.
    It’s a story that’s been told before, but 1 that never gets old. Raveling, the 1st black coach in the Pac-12 (then the Pac-8), who coached at USC, Iowa and Washington State, speaks with the wonderful writer/columnist Tom Hoffarth about that day and how it impacts his life.

He’s Had His Fill With Gold

Tommie Smith will auction off the gold medal he won at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, where he and fellow sprinter John Carlos, who won a bronze, gave one of the most famous black power protests ever.
