“That’s a good one, Lee.”
Now if Jerry Jones doesn’t want to cede much of the football decisions to Bill Cowher, like some folks are saying, we can easily see this disintegrating to something like the Raider horror show that continues to run. Trust me, as a stinking Raiders fan, I know something about this.
Cowher is the 1 coach who could guide the ‘Boys back to greatness. He’d also kick them in the ass, which is much needed. Too much talent on that roster.
Jason Garrett is the safe pick. But he’d nod his head more than Jerry would and that wouldn’t be a good thing for you ‘Boys’ fans. If it’s us spending Jerry’s money, Cowher’s the man.

Well ‘Boys?
-
At least they still have the Rangers.
We’re not sure what was more ridiculous: Troy Aikman’s claim about Miles Austin and Jason Witten being the best at their positions or the Cowboys stupidity with penalties and just bone-headed plays again. But even at 1-4 and their confidence in the tank, we won’t wave the white flag yet like a lot of folks in Dallas are. Oh they’ve got some major problems, some of which won’t be fixed until after the season is over. Tony Romo is the biggest one.
But they might make a minor recovery by beating the 1st-place Giants, who we’re not exactly sold on, next week on Monday Night Football and the Jags the following week. Both games are in Dallas.

Cowher Would Make More $ense In Dallas
-
Though Wade Phillips bought some time with the Boys hammering the Texans today, wouldn’t it make sense for Jerry Jones to bring in Bill Cowher? Cowher wants to coach again, and with his wife’s recent death, could use a new challenge to help ease his pain.
From today’s Boston Globe: “During a speaking engagement in Erie, Pa., Cowher expressed a growing desire to return to coaching, and as he’s gone through a very difficult time after his wife’s death, chances seem to be improving that this will be the year. Dallas would make a lot of sense. There is money there, 3-4 defensive personnel, a quarterback and a win-now roster. And as for Jones, Cowher wouldn’t necessarily demand personnel control. Makes sense, no?”

Play It Again: Jimmy And Jerry

-
Did we mention Joe Torre is available too?
Cowboy fans everywhere are pushing the panic button after the Bears dropped their club to 0-2. And it’s possible Dallas could be 0-3 after a Sunday visit to Houston to face the Texans.
Many Cowboy fans would prefer Jerry Jones cut his losses now and fire Wade Phillips. But wouldn’t that just enhance the problem since Jerry’s boy, Jason Garrett, would be next in line to run the ‘Boys?
Or how about Jerry gets really bold and bring back Jimmy Johnson? David Whitley gives it a thumbs up. Us? We’d love to see Barry on the sidelines again. Plus, Switzer would really liven things up with his comedy act.

Hey Cowboy…

-
Jerry Jones got caught slurring and bragging about how he used Bill Parcells to get a new billion-dollar stadium and how he wouldn’t touch Tim Tebow with a 10-foot pole (yours or his). So Dallas Morning News columnist Tim Cowlishaw cries about so-called “mainstream” media outlets televising Jerry’s drunken rant and we’re supposed to feel sorry for him? Please. Cry me a river Tim. Further, its hypocritical, particularly since Jones has passed on players (Randy Moss ring any bells dude?) and criticized them for similar indulgences.
Jones got caught with his pants down. And why is he hanging out at the bar? Looking for Michael Irvin? And would the Playmaker get the same sympathy? Uh no.
You can cry about things not being the way they used to be, but they haven’t been like they used to be for quite some time now. Granted, the rules of the game have changed where everyone wants to score a scoop (you too) and expose celebrities in a “gotcha moment,” but its kinda like watching cable TV, reality shows or reading rags like yours. Change the channel or turn the freaking page. But let’s not cry over spilled whiskey. Jerry is a big boy. He can handle it.

Barber Shop: Jerry Dances To A Different Tune

From Pro Football.com’s Mike Florio:
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones raised eyebrows on Monday when he said that, in his view, running back Marion Barber could have played on Sunday against the Steelers. Instead, Barber stayed in Big D, nursing his bum pinkie toe.
“He can play with that injured toe,” Jones said on Monday. “He can play with the soreness and a combination of those things. I see nothing that led us to believe he couldn’t.”
Said Jones on Tuesday, on WOAI-AM radio via our own Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News: “We all know how tough Marion Barber is. When he had his injury, I felt, ‘Look, you’ll have to shoot him to keep him off the football field.’ I was surprised that we didn’t have him. That was not meant to be critical of his toughness. It did come out that way, but fundamentally, it was because he is so tough that you would have thought that he could play.”
Wow. Who would’ve thought that Jones can backpedal like Jordan.
