Tiger Has Rough Outing, But Not Like Phil’s

Four bogeys on the final 8 holes dropped Tiger Woods 4 shots back of the leader, a 22-year-old Aussie named Jason Day. But despite his tough outing in the 2nd round of the Barclays, Woods is still within striking distance. Phil Mickelson can’t say as much. Actually, he left the building today.

Early Riser

He started the week talking about divorce and how its taken a toll on his game. But Tiger Woods opened round 1 of the Barclays in New Jersey on Thursday with a 65, tying him for the lead with Vaughn Taylor. Woods teed off with the 1st group, something unheard for him. But it worked to his advantage as he shot his lowest score of the year.

Bunker Deal

I had no clue what offense Dustin Johnson committed. Grounding your club in a bunker? Oh doctor. That must be awful.
It cost Johnson a major on Sunday. In the end, Martin Kaymer (left) defeated Bubba Watson in a playoff to capture the PGA Championship in Wisconsin.
Despite Kaymer winning the tourney, Johnson was the talk of the town.

Shades Of His Old Self

At least for a day. But Tiger Woods has completed only 1 decent round of golf at the PGA Championship in Wisconsin. Woods finished the opening round today 1 under at 71, trailing leaders Bubba Watson, Ernie Els and 3 others by 3 strokes.

Can’t Bust A Rut

With the exception of 2 players, Tiger Woods has played the worst golf of any at the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio. Woods is 78th of the 80 players in the tournament. Imagine that.
Ryan Palmer and Sean O’Hair are the leaders heading into the final round, but 20 or so players still have a shot at the title. Not one of them is named Eldrick Woods.

Bubba, Not Tiger, Is Blowing Bubbles

There’s a joke in there somewhere, right?
Your 1st-round leader at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational: Bubba Watson. Watson shot a 64 for a 2-shot lead over U.S. Open champ Graeme McDowell, Adam Scott and Kenny Perry.
Tiger Woods had a miserable day, finishing with a 4-over-par 74, 10 shots off the lead.

Will He Finally Roar?

With his personal life affecting his game, Tiger Woods hasn’t won a tournament this year. On Thursday, he attempts to change that with a victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, where he has experienced much success in the past. Woods has captured the event 7 times in the past 11 years (he missed the event in 2008 because of knee surgery).
