Dodgers: A Handsome Sum For Prince?
-
With the Dodgers locking up Matt Kemp with a new deal, maybe they’ll consider Prince Fielder with another 1. It’s not like Frank McCourt will be on the hook for all that cash.

Put It On The Board, Yeah!

Cards 6, Rangers 2.
Make it 11 World Series titles.
We didn’t bet the farm, but we earned a little beer change in 1 of the most improbable runs of all time.

For The Love Of Ron Washington

We love this picture. It says “what the funk did I tell you!”
Rangers 15, Tigers 5.
Back-to-back.
Wasn’t the Rangers bankrupt just a little while back? Maybe there’s hope Dodger fans, but we seriously doubt it. Besides, imagine how Angel fans feel watching Texas advance to its 2nd straight World Series. We’d probably wager the Rangers win it this time too.

Daddy Long Stroke

Nelson Cruz has developed into Mr. Clutch in the postseason. Three years ago, the Rangers put Cruz on waivers, but every other Major League club passed on him. Now he’s inflicting major damage on any club standing in the Rangers way of a World Series title.

They’ve Got Tickets To Ride
-
On the heels of their impressive come-from-behind victory on the road at Texas A&M, the Oklahoma State Cowboys moved up to the No. 5 spot in the Associated Press college football rankings. They trail top-ranked LSU, OU, Alabama and Boise State.
Some experts believe the Cowboys are the team to beat in the Big 12, but they have several crucial encounters coming up in October and a showdown with OU, which could have national championship implications, in December.
The Cowboys have an Oct. 15 clash with Texas in Austin, followed by a visit to Missouri on Oct. 22. They return home for a Oct. 29 meeting with quarterback Robert Griffin and Baylor.
Of course if OSU remains unbeaten, as well as OU, all eyes will be on the expected shootout in Stillwater.
Tickets are available for all of these key games and more by visiting LavaTickets.com. The website is an excellent source for tickets for college football games, Major League Baseball, NFL, NHL, NBA, boxing, golf, soccer and other high-profile sporting events.

How Much Again For That Pony?
-
The truth as I know it. I’ve sat in Bill Burke’s office for an hour or 2 and listened to his bullshit back in the day. The fact that he gave me a couple of hours should tell you he’s not qualified to own a Major League Baseball club, particularly the Dodgers. And these guys refused to allow Mark Cuban in their clubhouse? Oh doctor.
Burke’s wife is former L.A. Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, a former member of the House. I bring that up because as much as she achieved historically, she began to go the Leonard Tose route in her later years. Still, 1 of my favorites quotes came from 1 of the janitors at the L.A. Times. “She thank she big shit.” I couldn’t resist. “And you don’t?” “Hell nah!!!”
Burke is best known for starting the L.A. Marathon, but since my cousin Mo is a serious marathon runner and hasn’t run in this 1, at least to my knowledge, probably tells you all you need to know.
Frank McCourt throwing MLB a curve ball here. Or what are we missing here?

Welcome Matt: 30-30 Club
-
Centerfielder Matt Kemp became only the 2nd Dodger (Raul Mondesi was the other) to reach the 30-30 club with his homer tonight in the club’s victory over the Rockies. We’ve believed he’s had 40-40 potential since he reached the Majors, but he might not have enough time to pull it off this season. Kemp needs 7 more stolen bases along with 10 homers in the next 32 games.
