Strutting Her Stuff Again

Skylar Diggins, the hottest honey in women’s college basketball, recorded a triple-double tonight to lead Notre Dame to the Final 4 after a lopsided victory over Maryland. Diggins finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Smoking Blue Grass On Bourbon Street

    Smiling faces…
Kansas-Ohio State is a nice matchup, but the big game of course at this year’s Final 4 in New Orleans is Rick Pitino and Louisville vs. John Calipari and Kentucky.

‘Nice Pass Russ’

He didn’t do too bad shooting the ball either. Allow me to indulge myself by adding he shoots that same nutty knuckleball like I once did.
    Louisville 72, Florida 68.
With Ricky Pitino earning a ‘T’ and Florida holding a double-digit lead, I foolishly believed Louisville was on its way home. Instead, the Cardinals will be traveling to New Orleans for the Final 4 next week after the Gators gagged away the lead in a stunner. One big reason for Louisville’s rally? The play of the comical Russ Smith, who sometimes pats himself on the back with “Nice pass Russ.”

Now This Is Ballin’

    Kentucky 102, Indiana 90.
This is the way the game should be played. Upclose and personal.

Renewing Old Acquaintances

Fifty-one years ago, Cincinnati and Ohio State met for college basketball’s national championship. The Bearcats prevailed in an upset of the unbeaten and top-seeded Buckeyes, a team that included Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek, Larry Siegfried and Bobby Knight, the latter of whom couldn’t play as well, so he pursued the coaching route. This was a year after Oscar Robertson graduated from Cincy.
In 1962, Cincinnati punked Ohio State again to repeat as national champs.
The 2 schools have met only once since then, the last time being in 2006, when Cincy scored another win. They clash again in a much-anticipated matchup on Thursday night, when the second-seeded Buckeyes are favored again.
With old grudges prevailing, the Buckeyes have refused to play the Bearcats during the regular season. And from the sounds of things, they won’t be doing so anytime soon.

Like Fish Out Of Water

Maybe they should have mixed in some Tracy Morgan and his Sarah Pallin fantasies.
While Shaq was partying it up in Vegas, his 2 TNT partners in crime, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, were forced to perform studio work for the NCAA Tournament. Like last year, when they debuted, the 2 were “turrible,” to steal a page from Barkley.
Not much changed this year either. They’re wonderful on TNT, but they’re out of their element talking college basketball.

Speaking Of Hangovers (And Green)…

Shake it like a Polaroid picture.
The Spartans, though, get a reality check today when they face Florida. Doesn’t matter if they lose. They’ve had a Tournament for the ages.

Busters

If you had Norfolk State, you’re lying. We not only had Missouri as a Final 4 team, unfortunately we had them on a parlay. But Duke was on that same parlay. What were we thinking?

We Called Iowa State, But Colorado?

Dang UCLA, y’all can’t even make the Tournament?
We figured anyone (at least anyone except USC) could win the Pac-12 Tournament, but we didn’t think the tournament champ could win a game in the Tournament. Meet the Colorado Buffaloes, ladies and gentlemen, who dealt UCLA…oops, we mean UNLV a disappointing setback.
