NBA: Less Is More
-
Watching David Stern politic and play on the ignorance of many NBA fans who solely blame the players for the lockout, we’re reminded of a solution the commissioner chooses to ignore. It’s called contraction. The league would be better off if they contracted teams such as Michael Jordan’s Bobcats or the NBA-run Hornets, among others. Instead, Stern and his misguided owners believe strong-arming the players for millions and hijacking the game from the fans is a better tactic.

Just shopping, not buying anything. Damn, I thought she was hotter than that Mike. Just another reason Wilt is the greatest of all time.
I’ve been with the NBA players since Day 1 but I’m not the only 1. Here’s more reasons why.

Season’s Teetering
The owners are closer to achieving their goal of canceling the NBA season. Michael Jordan and a small band of hardliners are intent on it.
Meanwhile, David Stern couldn’t wait to use ESPN today as his platform to tell anyone who would listen of how the players have wrecked negotiations. But if you’re negotiating with someone in good faith, you don’t issue ultimatums with each proposal. Stern has frequently done so throughout these so-called negotiations.
As much as I’d love to see some balling, I still applaud the players. They have little choice in the matter. They agreed to give back the $300 million the league supposedly lost last year only to have Stern and those greedy bastards he represents to demand more. And Stern has the gall to call the players’ decision to disband the union “tragic?” Please.

Fraud
-
Maybe he’s trying to get back some of that money David Stern fined him for earlier in the lockout.
Some of us knew Michael Jordan was full of shit back in the ’90s when he refused a request from the National Association of Black Journalists to participate in a forum about why kids got killed and shot over Air Jordans. There also was his refusal years ago to endorse a gentleman named Harvey Gantt, who happened to be running against the infamous Jesse Helms for the U.S. Senate. That’s when Jordan made his ill-advised “”Republicans buy sneakers too” comment.
Now Jordan is 1 of the owners holding the players and fans hostage as he dictates the whims of several misguided owners bent on canceling the NBA season.
Several players though have taken notice and making their own statements to His Airness. For starters, Nick Young is 1 of them. Even rookie Klay Thompson, who hasn’t even played an NBA game, is taking a shot at Jordan.

Where’s Kobe?
We underestimated the players resolve, but as much as we’d love to be watching us some NBA, we applaud their stance.

A House Divided
-
Eventually, we all knew it would come to this, NBA players caving before opening night. Or at least it sounds like there is some cracking inside the NBA Players’ Union, with the fussing and fighting intensifying. The superstars can afford to miss a few paychecks, but many of the rank-and-file members not so much. In addition, there has been talk of some players questioning the loyalty of Derek Fisher. Now, Billy Hunter is under the microscope.
The owners aren’t the picture of solidarity either, the comments by Heat owner Mickey Arison the latest example. But they’ve got money. And they’ve got the little dictator (David Stern) leading the charge.
A deal by the end of the week? We think so. The worst being next week, no?
If not, we’ve got college hoops tipping off. That will stop a little bleeding for us hoop junkies.

Stern Test Part Of Owners’ Plan
-
The public perception is the players are greedy. David Stern and the owners know this and will bank on it to negotiate a deal. They would prefer to put the players in their place and make them pay for the stupid mistakes owners frequently make by rewarding some undeserving players with lofty contracts when they should be earning the NBA minimum.
You the fan? Seriously, do you really think they give a shit about you? They know you’ll be pissed about missing some games, but they also know you’ll eventually come back. You can’t resist.

Swap Meat Makes Him A King

Before the NBA locked out the players tonight, the Kings made a smooth move, acquiring forward J.J. Hickson from the Cavs for forward Omri Casspi and a future first-round pick.
Sounds like Bryon Scott is up to his hard-ass ways again, running Hickson out of Cleveland. Scott has some history of this. Ask Jason Kidd, Chris Paul, David West or a few other players who great weary of his dictating style. Remember, Scott learned from the biggest dictator of them all, GQ Pat Riley.
Good thing Scott is stuck in Cleveland. Many believe had he been available, the Lakers would have made him their new coach instead of Mike Brown.
The Cavs recorded a steal in this deal though. Hickson can ball. And he’ll make DeMarcus Cousins a much better player.
