The Tiger Woods story, which includes his TV confession of infidelity and his return to golf, was voted as the 2010 top sports story by the Associated Press. Runner-up to the Woods insanity was the Saints capturing the Super Bowl, which gets our vote as the year’s best.

Chilly lived to work another day as coach of the Vikings, but it’s only a matter of time before the club drops the ax.
Two of the players (Brett Favre and Percy Harvin) who have been bumping heads with Brad Childress bail him and the Vikings out in an OT win over the lowly the Cardinals. They’re both probably sipping cold ones about now considering the irony.

Brad Childress frequently complains like the spoiled kid who’s had his privileges revolved. The Vikings should have done so long ago. But we’re guessing if this season continues to be the train wreck that it is, the club will cut its losses and boot Childress.

At least they still have the Rangers.
We’re not sure what was more ridiculous: Troy Aikman’s claim about Miles Austin and Jason Witten being the best at their positions or the Cowboys stupidity with penalties and just bone-headed plays again. But even at 1-4 and their confidence in the tank, we won’t wave the white flag yet like a lot of folks in Dallas are. Oh they’ve got some major problems, some of which won’t be fixed until after the season is over. Tony Romo is the biggest one.
But they might make a minor recovery by beating the 1st-place Giants, who we’re not exactly sold on, next week on Monday Night Football and the Jags the following week. Both games are in Dallas.

Brett Favre’s troubles didn’t prevent Wrangler from running one of his commercials on Monday Night Football. And why should it? Seriously, I’m as much about fun and games as anyone, but I find it hard (all pun intended) that Favre sex texting, emailing or voice mailing is news. Seriously.
This overhyped drama starring the Jets and Vikings and all its storylines started out as a yawner, but heated up significantly after intermission, particularly with Randy Moss and Antonio Cromartie in co-starring roles. Then it ended in dramatic fashion, the Vikings again getting drop-kicked by another Favre game-losing interception. Ballgame.
“It was a great football game and I wish we would have won it,” Favre said, adding he believes the Jets are the best in the AFC. “I’ve achieved a lot of things, but we’re 1-3. That’s disappointing. It’s not that we’re not capable, we’re very capable. The addition of Randy Moss…in just a week’s time, he’s helped Percy. But once again, it’s all about the wins.
“I missed some throws. I missed some throws on that last drive I make in my sleep. But I won’t make any excuses.”
Vikings-Cowboys next weekend. Bottoms up. Or if you’re Wade, you’d like to be on top for change.

ESPN, which broadcasts all things Brett Favre related, has been suspiciously reluctant to air much of this dirty laundry. Does it have anything to do with its partnership with the NFL?
The website Deadspin did a number on Favre, publishing photos supposedly of Favre’s penis he allegedly sent to Jenn Sterger, a model and TV personality who worked with the Jets during the quarterback’s one season in New York.
Well now the NFL is investigating, which might mean trouble and a possible suspension for Favre if the allegations are true. And the fact that this incident involves the Jets again means the NFL will be searching high and low for the truth.
Writer Clay Travis, who also is a lawyer, offers some possible scenarios on what might develop next.
