Has Ben Plays Fictional Character

You’d think Ben Roethlisberger has better things to do. Like maybe spending more time on the Ravens and Bengals before his suspension ends? No. The Steeler quarterback took time to change his bio in the club’s media guide, listing his new hometown as a fiction one instead of Findley, Ohio.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Ben Roethlisberger for 6 games, but with good behavior, which includes counseling, the quarterback can return after missing 4 games. Though Roethlisberger wasn’t charged in the much-publicized incident involving a 20-year-old Georgia college student, Goodell said it didn’t matter since the Steelers’ star was being held to a “higher standard.”
The Steelers won’t complain about the length of the suspension, but many sportswriters will do otherwise.
In his statement, Goodell said: “I recognize that the allegations in Georgia were disputed and that they did not result in criminal charges being filed against you. My decision today is not based on a finding that you violated Georgia law, or on a conclusion that differs from that of the local prosecutor. That said, you are held to a higher standard as an N.F.L. player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans.”

While Holmes Is Held To A Higher Standard, Media Apologizes For Big Ben’s Sick Behavior?

You just don’t trade a Super Bowl MVP in the prime of his career for a 5th-round draft choice. So what gives with the Steelers? They dealt Santonio Holmes because he smoked a little weed? Seriously, what’s the real story behind this? They could be watching the Jets celebrate a Super Bowl win next year with all the artillery they’re stockpiling in New York. But the Steelers won’t even make it out of their division, let alone earn a playoff spot. We’re betting they finish no better than .500, if that. But that’s beside the point right now.
Ben Roethlisberger? Can you spell S-C-U-M-B-A-G? We’re anxiously awaiting the ruling by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Will Ben be held to a higher standard than some of the other players who have been in the line of Goodell’s fire? A suspension is a given. But for how long?
We’ll let our friends at Sports On My Mind offer some smack that you won’t read elsewhere. Highly recommended.

Bradshaw: No Friend Of Big Ben

Terry Bradshaw tees off on Ben Roethlisberger about his reckless behavior, but adds that Roethlisberger “doesn’t like me and I’m learning not to like him.” Bradshaw continues, “He has got to realize who he is He is an elite athlete in the National Football League. He’s got to be careful.”
The Hall of Famer and Fox NFL analyst offers a few more choice comments during an interview.

While Roethlisberger Skates On Possible Rape, Steelers Put Troubled Holmes On Jets’ Plane

Ben Roethlisberger avoided being prosecuted on rape charges today for his role in an alleged sexual assault of a 20-year-old college student, but his troubles aren’t over yet. Expect the Steelers’ quarterback to be suspended for his reckless behavior by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. If not, Goodell will show his so-called justice toward other players is incredibly biased. I’ve always believe the legal system should dictate whether a player should be punished or not, but with the NFL’s player conduct policy and Goodell’s hard-nosed approach on it, there is no reason to believe Roethlisberger will avoid suspension.
Meanwhile, Steeler fans must be screaming about yesterday’s trade of wide receiver Santonio Holmes, who was dealt to the Jets for a 5th-round choice. It’s clear the club was anxious to part ways with Holmes, who has had his troubles with law enforcement too, but for a 5th-round pick is ludicrous.

Hoax Or Psycho Big Ben?

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is a suspect in the alleged sexual assault of a 20-year-old college student, said police in Milledgeville, Ga., which is about 85 miles south of Atlanta. The woman said she was “sexually assaulted or sexually manipulated,” according to a police report. We’re not sure what sexually manipulated means, but I’m sure we’ll know before the end of the weekend.
The woman and some friends supposedly hooked up with Big Ben and his friends and hit a few bars throughout town. The accuser didn’t know the Roethlisberger’s name, according to the police report.
