Cooking With Mike Leach: Fat Meat Still Ain’t Greasy With The Slickest Coach In Our Book

Since my Mom is always watching the Food Network, I’ll have to ask her if Mike Leach can burn. I can hear her now, saying “Who?!!! Is he from Boley?”
Our favorite unemployed coach, who we’re hoping UCLA gets a clue and hires to replace Slick Rick, has some rich flavor for the kitchen duties.

Knick Picking

Can the 3-man game of Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Amar’e compete with the beasts in the East and face the Lakers for the NBA title? No. And can someone tell us what the hell the T-Wolves are doing, dealing Corey Brewer for Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph? Seriously, how long will it take before Kurt Rambis beats a path back to L.A.?
Glad to see the local paper score the scoop after all the speculation and false reports from so many in the national media.

Bucks 98, Lakers 79

Thanks for the love player Hobe. Had I not watched this game at your crib, I never would have known Earl Boykins (Wizards got rid of him and Gilbert?) was playing in Milwaukee now. Or better, doing his thang Tuesday night in L.A., where he keyed a blowout of the 2-time champs, before LeBron, D-Wade and the Heat rock show comes through. Does Barkley know Earl Boykins is with the Bucks?
    Hell, it wasn’t that close.
Kobe told the officials to take a hike so he could before this trap game floored the Lakers in L.A. Beatdown. No Brandon Jennings and Corey Maggette and they smoke the Lakers. The Duke of Earl Boykins though was on fire. He clocked them.
Some folks say this Laker loss takes luster off Saturday’s showdown between the Heat and Lakers. Uh, no.
    Happy holidays.

Who’s Giving Who The Finger Again Here?

Hey, if you had to spy on the 49ers, maybe that was a signal of a little trouble in paradise to begin with? We are talking the San Francisco 49ers, right? And what did Todd Haley know and when?
Or maybe it’s us, but we still don’t get the NFL and the Broncos settling for $100,000. “I’m Larry H. Parker and I can get you…”
Something reeks here. You think James Harrison? That’s 75 grand for 1 of your hits but these scumbags get 2 and walk just like that. What are we missing here?

‘One Hughes Letdown’

That’s the catchy headline in the N.Y. Daily News. Ranger fans would beg to differ that today’s result wasn’t one huge letdown.
Instead, they bounce back from Friday’s debacle by jumping on Yankee pitcher Phil Hughes to even the AL series at a game apiece. Game 3 is Monday at 5 p.m. (PT) on TBS.

Showing His Ignorance Again

A tip of the cap to our good friends at You Been Blinded.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. refuses to get in the ring with Manny Pacquiao because he’s afraid of getting his ass handed to him, but that hasn’t prevented him from ranting with some shameful racist bs. Pretty disgusting even for Mayweather’s low standards.

Nice Start, But They Need Work

Offensively, USC was impressive in its season-opening victory over host Hawaii Thursday night. Each time the Warriors would rally from double-digit deficits, the Trojans’ offense would respond with a crucial score in their 49-36 thumping. Matt Barkley looked good throwing 5 touchdowns, but running back Marc Tyler and wide receiver Ronald Johnson, who is almost as good as anyone in the country, also were major contributors.
But the defense, particularly the secondary, is a work in progress. Hawaii tagged the Trojans for almost 600 yards in offense.

Sweet Revenge

The Cards kicked Walt Jocketty out the door despite the former GM putting together the pieces that eventually won them a World Series in 2006. Almost every year, they were the club to beat in the NL Central. But not this year.
Now, Jocketty has built the Reds into a contender and they’re beating the Cards at their own game and closing in on the division crown.
The 2 clubs meet this weekend in a pivotal series in St. Louis. The Cards trail the Reds by 8 games in the division. A sweep or a series-winning outing by the Reds will practically gift wrap a spot in the playoffs. Though Dusty Baker deserves as much credit as anyone, so does Jocketty.
Ironically, Jocketty’s great work in Cincy will probably result in the demise in his friend Tony LaRussa in St. Louis.
