Mr. Happy Would Prefer We Not Talk Title

Don’t even think about.
More classic hits from the notoriously grumpy Nick Saban. He doesn’t want sportswriters and broadcasters talking to his players about the national championship game. Something about they don’t need the “clutter.” Oh. As if 19- and 20-year-old kids dont have enough distractions, Saban would rather you not distract them about meeting Texas for the national championship. Priceless. The players are programmed into Planet Saban (as if they have a choice), particularly Javier Arenas, who had a classic response about the clutter nonsense. “Clutter is clutter, bro,” Arenas said. “You’re driving down the road, and you’re thinking about a chick, and you hit a dog in the road. It’s clutter. You know what I’m saying?”
We get it.

Why Tide Will Win National Championship

Since everyone is picking the Tide, there’s an overwhelming case for them to win. A top-notch defense, Mark Ingram and quarterback Greg McElroy, who Texas apparently snubbed, are among the reasons. We like Javier Arenas as a wild card. Dude is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Larry Burton offers more reasons why national championship is ‘Bama’s.

Why Texas Will Win National Championship

We’ll be featuring plenty of content for the next few weeks leading into the Jan. 7 clash between Texas and Alabama in Pasadena. Many college football experts are picking ‘Bama (its also a five-point favorite) and some believe the game will be a blowout. Bryan Kelly is going with the Horns and he offers several reasons why. Jordan Shipley is one of them.

Mr. Happy

And we thought Stoops was grumpy.

St. Nick is in a league of his own. The ESPN college football crew got a dose Sunday night, when it interviewed the ‘Bama’ football coach after the BCS pairings were announced. Nick seemed ready for battle tomorrow. Actually, he’ll have to wait until Thursday, Jan. 7, at 5 p.m. at the Rose Bowl. The opening line: ‘Bama is a three-point favorite. Wonder what St. Nick thinks of that?

And St. Nick won’t love hearing this: Already, some are calling it a mismatch. ‘Bama’s good, but so is Nebraska’s defense. Ndaumkong Suh should get the Heisman in our book.

Will ‘Bama Be A Thorn In Horns’ Side?

With Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh and his mates giving a standout defensive show, Texas seemed on the verge of gagging away its spot in the BCS title game. Colt McCoy, who probably blew his shot at the Heisman (how about some votes for Suh?), seemed to have brain cramps all night, particularly with the clocking winding down as the Texas quarterback nonchalantly threw the ball out of bounds with one second remaining. Hunter Lawrence became the hero as his game-winning kick slid just inside the uprights, allowing the Horns to escape a stunning upset.
So the big question for weeks will be if the Horns have enough to match up with ‘Bama? If they play the way they did against Nebraska (or the way ‘Bama did in smacking Florida), Texas has no chance. But plenty can happen before the two teams meet in a month in Pasadena.
