Let’s Get Drunk And Be Somebody

Despite needing 1 more win for the national championship, Kentucky fans couldn’t resist getting out of hand after Saturday’s victory over Louisville.

Wounded Knee

Dude, there is no crying in basketball.
A knee injury will sideline Jeremy Lin for at least 6 weeks, meaning Linsanity could be toast for the rest of the NBA season. Worst, the Bricks will have to rely on Baron Davis to run the show.

What Are The Odds?

Kentucky, which appears to be a slam dunk to take it all, has opened as a 7-point favorite over Kansas for the national championship Monday.

Kansas 64, Ohio State 62

Damn, did Barkley actually pick 2 winners in a row?
The Jayhawks, who were 3 point underdogs, cover and force a meltdown by the Buckeyes, who must have suffered from that SI jinx since they appeared on this week’s cover.

Kentucky 69, Louisville 61

If you had the Wildcats and were giving up 8 points, you’re probably kicking and screaming. Now if you took the Cardinals and got 8 1/2, you’re probably cashing your ticket as we speak.

Last Stan?

Some believe the Dwight Howard circus took its toll on Stan Van Gundy and the Ron Jeremy lookalike with either quit or be fired when the season ends.

Odd Couple

Sounds like another case of the apple not falling far from the tree. Did I mention how I frequently see Doug’s old man Bob, a former coach, all the time around Southern Cali, where he pimps his expertise (at a cost of course) at improving the games of high school kids? Didn’t think so.
K-State and Doug Gottlieb? Stranger things have happened.
Still it makes you wonder about the mindset of Cats’ AD John Currie. Nothing against Doug, but this is the same guy who apparently couldn’t get past his ego to keep Frank Martin, who bolted K-State for that hoop hotbed known as South Carolina. Seriously, you know something is wrong when a coach as gifted as Martin leaves a good program like K-State for a so-so 1 like South Carolina.
Or maybe Doug and the ‘Cats are a match made in heaven.

Skins Tight

Is Donovan McNabb on the mark about the Shanahans or just bitter? McNabb ripped the father and son duo a new 1 yesterday on ESPN, saying their system won’t work with Robert Griffin III. Regardless, they can’t afford to screw up Robert Griffin III, who the Redskins will draft with the 2nd pick of the NFL draft. Do that and Dan Snyder will be spending a ton of coin again on another coach.

Simply An Ass Kicking

Lamar Odom certainly could take a page out of Derek Fisher’s playbook. Do you see Fisher crying about the Lakers dumping him? Didn’t think so.
Thunder 102, Lakers 93.
It wasn’t that close. Worst, for the Lakers, they seem to be fading down the stretch. Blame Mike Brown. His tactics sometimes resemble ones from a rookie coach instead of 1 who has been in the league for years. Instead of giving players like Kobe Bryant a much needed blow heading down the stretch, he continues to push, push, push. Bryant is 3rd in the NBA in minutes played and that shouldn’t be the case at his age. Brown could take a page out of his daddy Pop’s playbook.
The Lakers also seem to be bickering more and pointing figures at each other lately. Another reason this is a tired squad.
But there were no excuses on Thursday night, when the Thunder pounded them. Tired or not, they simply got their asses handed to them.

Homecoming King

With Magic Johnson and the purchase of the Dodgers dominating the spotlight, the return of Derek Fisher tonight has slipped under the radar.
