Innocent Until Proven Guilty

It’s a novel approach even in this day of the Cowlin Cowherds and Jim Romes of the world. Isn’t it a bit too easy to indict Jose Bautista as a roid user in this day, when he’d just have to be as stupid as the some of the individuals who cover the game to venture down this path?
Seriously, if we want to libel Bautista since he’s come out of no where to have a career year, leading the Majors with 40 home runs, why not question all of the no-hitters (and throw in the near misses while you’re at it) the pitchers have been throwing? It’s because many baseball writers and some of their ilk would rather pound the hitters instead of the pitchers. Pitchers have always gotten the benefit of the doubt despite the fact it makes more sense for them to take performance enhancing subjects. How long did they ride Barry Bonds, but turn the other way when it concerned Roger Clemens? Both are assholes, but up until now, Bonds always got the shaft more than Clemens.
Saw what you will about Bautista, but spare him the Brady Anderson comparisons unless you have some information. Just offering up the excuse of “Well you have to ask the question” is really freaking bogus.
