Talk Of The Town

-
With almost a week to go before kickoff for Super Bowl XLIV, the right ankle of Dwight Freeney has already become the most talked about story during the past 24 hours. Freeney, the Colts’ All-Pro defensive end, sprained his ankle during the AFC Championship victory over the Jets. There’s no reason yet to believe he won’t play despite all the initial speculation. But his effectiveness as a pass rusher will be a question mark until he lines up for the Saints’ first drive of the game.
Though it’s still early, we noticed Freeney’s injury hasn’t moved the line. The Colts remain a 5 1/2-point favorite to win the game and as much as 6 at some sites. The oddmakers apparently aren’t buying into Freeney missing the game either. At least they aren’t yet.
