People’s Champ

Terence Moore makes some great points. What’s the big deal with fans voting Allen Iverson into the NBA All-Star Game? Yeah, yeah, we’ve heard all the outrage from writers calling it a horrible injustice. Players like Ray Allen are crying. But it’s the All-Star game. Who cares? It’s a pickup game all dressed up for corporate sponsors with courtside seats, admission tickets to high-end cocktail parties and a good time had by all. For the players, it’s a weekend of much of the same, and you get in touch with my people and vice versa, and…you see a pattern here?
If the fans want to see AI, so be it. This is a game for the fans and you won’t see any of them sitting in the primo seats. Quit hating on Iverson, who’s popularity extends abroad, for being the people’s choice.
