James Gang Cuts Down Leach

This deteriorated in a hurry. Just days after Adam James, son of college football analyst Craig, complained about harsh mistreatment (and what the hell is a electrical closet?) by Mike Leach, Texas Tech fired the quirky coach today. Besides the outrage regarding Leach’s alleged tactics, money figured prominently in the coach’s dismissal since he was a due an $800,000 bonus tomorrow. He’ll get a settlement, but the damage is done to his reputation.
It isn’t like Tech and Leach were romantic lovers. Less than a year ago, he and the school were squabbling over a new contract. Though he eventually signed a five-year deal worth more than $12 million, there were lingering bad vibes between Leach and the school since the coach openly sought other jobs, including the one at UCLA, before Slick Rick was hired. There will be more sparring between these two before a settlement is reached. And what Tech team shows up for Saturday’s contest against Michigan State?
